Robert Brown Joins Biothera as Senior Vice President,
Corporate Development

EAGAN, MN – December 14, 2006 – Robert J. Brown has joined Biothera as senior vice president of Corporate Development, with responsibility for identifying and negotiating licensing opportunities for the company’s pharmaceutical compounds.

Mr. Brown has more than 20 years of expertise in the identification, structuring, negotiation and contracting of M&A and business development transactions within the biopharmaceutical industry. 

“Bob Brown’s expertise in corporate development and knowledge of the biopharmaceutical industry make him a perfect fit for Biothera,” said Dan Conners, Biothera founder and chairman.  “He is our point person with companies interested in opportunities to further develop our immune health technologies, particularly in the areas of oncology, hematopoeisis and infectious disease.”

Most recently he was president and CEO of EllisBrown & Associates LLC, which provides business development guidance to biopharmaceutical companies and healthcare investors.  Previously Mr. Brown held corporate development positions at Serologicals Corporation and Andrx Group, where he was responsible for M&A activities (acquisitions, divestitures and equity based transactions), licensing transactions, joint ventures and strategic alliances. 

Mr. Brown spent more than a decade with Bristol-Myers Squibb (BMS) Company where he held several positions, including vice president, Corporate Development.  His responsibilities included strategic planning and third party commercial transactions for the company’s U.S. Medicines Group, which was composed of the Primary Care Division (cardiovascular, metabolics, anti-infectives, neuroscience), BMS Oncology and Immunology, Apothecon Generics, Westwood Squibb Dermatology, Mead Johnson Nutritionals and the BMS Consumer Group.

“Bob’s primary focus will be identifying potential licensees and development alliances for our hematopoeitic and cancer applications,” said Richard Mueller, Biothera president and chief executive officer. “Biothera is currently conducting a Phase I/II clinical trial for stem cell mobilization and has several Phase II cancer trials planned for 2007.”
