Biopolymer Engineering Patented Immune Support Products Now Available in Thailand and the Philippines

EAGAN, MN – September 28, 2004 – Biopolymer Engineering, Inc. has expanded the presence of its immune support products in Southeast Asia with exclusive distribution agreements in Thailand and the Philippines. In the past 12 months, the company has also signed similar agreements in Japan, China, Taiwan and Malaysia.

The new agreements provide DKSH, a leading international marketing, distribution and services Group, with rights to Biopolymer Engineering’s patented functional and true food, nutritional supplement and cosmetic ingredients in Thailand and the Philippines. DKSH does business as Edward Keller, Inc. in the Philippines and Diethelm Trading Co Ltd in Thailand.

The agreements include Biopolymer Engineering’s branded specialty ingredient products, WGP® 3-6 and BetaRight® 3-6, and its finished retail supplement, Imucell™ WGP®. In Thailand, DKSH will also distribute Biopolymer Engineering’s Life Source Basics brand of retail nutritional supplements and Skin Renewal cream.

Biopolymer Engineering’s patented products include beta 1,3/1,6 glucan derived from highly purified Baker’s yeast (Sacchromyces cervisiae). The compound’s scientifically proven ability to enhance the performance of the immune system makes it unique among natural products. The company and its research collaborators recently published a paper in The Journal of Immunology, the official publication of the American Association of Immunologists, outlining the mechanism of action of WGP 3-6 in the body.

In addition to nutritional supplements and a wide range of skin care products and cosmetics, WGP 3-6 and BetaRight 3-6 have numerous functional food applications, including bakery, dairy and beverages.

“DKSH has been a strong marketing partner for us in Japan and Europe,” said Richard Mueller, president and CEO of Biopolymer Engineering. “We’re pleased to expand our relationship as well as our presence in Southeast Asia.”
