EAGAN, MN – June 6, 2005 – Research on Biothera’s immune therapy
will be presented June 8-11 in Philadelphia at the fourth annual Era
of Hope meeting for the Department of Defense Breast Cancer Research
Program (BCRP).
Era of Hope is one of the premiere breast cancer research
conferences in the U.S. This year’s meeting will highlight the
multidisciplinary and innovative approaches funded by the BCRP in
its efforts to eradicate breast cancer.
Biothera scientific advisor Jun Yan, MD, PhD, will present the
research on behalf of his colleagues at the Tumor Immunobiology
Program at the James Graham Brown Cancer Center, University of
Louisville. Their paper is entitled, “Beta-Glucans Augment the
Killing of Activity of Anti-Tumor Monoclonal Antibodies by Providing
a Novel Mechanism that Primes Neutrophil CR3 to Kill Antibody
Targeted Tumor Cells.”
Biothera is developing patented beta glucan compounds as
pharmaceuticals to fight breast and other types of cancer. The
company is schedule to begin clinical testing of its intravenous
compound later this year.
