EAGAN, MN – November 10, 2004 – Jun Yan, MD, Ph.D., an immunologist
and researcher at the Brown Cancer Center at the University of
Louisville, has joined the Biopolymer Engineering, Inc.’s Scientific
Advisory Board.
Dr. Yan succeeds his University of Louisville colleague Gordon Ross,
Ph.D., who died recently after a brief illness.
“We are saddened by the passing of our friend and colleague Dr.
Ross, whose numerous discoveries have advanced the science of our
compounds and moved us closer to developing a treatment for cancer,”
said Richard G. Mueller, president and chief executive officer of
Biopolymer Engineering. “However, we are fortunate to have Dr. Yan
join our team. He is a long time colleague of Dr. Ross and has
conducted research with our compounds for several years. In
addition, Dr. Yan’s medical background will be invaluable as we move
from preclinical to clinical trials with our compounds.”
Dr. Yan is an Assistant Professor in the Tumor Immunobiology Program
at the Brown Cancer Center. His research focus is on autoimmunity
and tumor immunity. Dr. Yan believes that autoimmune diseases may
hold the key to inducing anti-tumor immune responses.
He received a Ph.D. in Immunology from Shanghai Institute of
Immunology, Shanghai Second Medical University, China. He also has a
M.D. from Jiangsu University School of Medicine. Before joining the
Brown Cancer Center, Dr. Yan was a research scientist in the Section

Dr. Yan is a member of the American Association of Immunologists,
the American Association for Cancer Research, the Clinical
